Excavation of a Stone-chambered Tomb at Xiaoheishigou,Ningcheng, Inner Mongolia

Xiang Chunsong, Museum of Chifeng City Li Yi, CPAM of Ningcheng County
The tomb is located at Xiaoheishigou, Chifeng, Innner Mongolia. The tomb, built with stones, has a rectangular plan and measures 3. 1 m long, 2. 3 m wide and 2.1 m deep. It yields over 400 pieces or sets of funeral objects, including 21 ritual bronzes, 46 tools, more than 70 chariot-and-horse fittings, 28 weapons, nearly 200 ornanents, more than 20 gold articles and 34 utensils. Among the bronze vessels, a gui inscribed "许季姜簋" shows a quite Central plains style, while the round-bottomed vessel and quarternary jar under the utensil category looks frontier. The site belonged to the Eastern Hu people ethnically, or the Upper Xiajiadian culture archaeologically. Its date should be somewhere between the mid-late Zhou dynasty and the Spring and Autumn period.
