Preparation and Characterization of α-FeO(OH) Ultrafine Particle by Colloidal Method

?FeO(OH) ultrafine pericles were prepared from iron sulfate or iron chloride by a colloidal chemicalmethod. The experiment conditions relative to influencing the properties of iron chide ultrafine powderswere investigated. The products were characterized by XRD, DSC, TG, IR and TEM. The experimentresult shows that pH, reacting temperature and the concentration of iron chloride have stgnificant ef fects on the size of a-FeO(OH) colloidal pericles. Under the conditions of PH=2.5, T=50~70 ℃,FeCb=0.1mol/L and AB S=0. 02~0. 04mol/ L, ultrafine a-FeO (OH) powders being spherical amorphouswith an average diameter of 12nm, and a good dispersity and transparency in non-polar organic solventscan be obtained.
