Study on Light Direction and Color in Hill-Shading

GUO Qingsheng 1 WANG Xiaoyan 1 (1 School of Resource and Environment Science, Wuhan University, 129 Luoyu Road, Wuhan 430079, China)  
Analyzing the existing methods of hill\|shading, this paper presents an interactive human\|computer coordinated method for the color hill\|shading. The emphasis is put on the modification and examination of grayness and color. The direction of light can be decided by user or through statistic method. Color can effectively improve the three\|dimensional appearance of terrain, and the design of color is mainly based on the layer tinting and the type of relief. A common color parameter table is designed.
