ZOU Zhi-yong (School of Humanities,Wuhan Transportation University,Wuhan 430063 ,Hubei,China)
Alienation is an important theme in the contemporary American Jewish literature, which is largely due to the unique history and cultural mechanism of the Jewish people. Soul Bellow and other Jewish writers give a vivid description of and make a profound discussion about various alienation phenomena of the contemporary American Jews. The alienation theme in their writings not only reveals the persistent perplexity and dilemma of the Jewish people, but also reflects the general existence problems of the whole human beings, hence having a cosmopolitical implication which goes beyond the bounds of races and countries.
