Analysis of Slope Stability by Strength Reduction Finite Element Method

Pointing out the shortcomings and deficiencies of slope stability analysis of the traditional method,the paper focuses on the theoretical background,outstanding advantages,factors and slope failure criterion of the finite element strength reduction method.Using 15 nodes triangular element,applying von miss yield criteria and non-associated flow rule,based on the finite element strength reduction method which gradually reduced strength until the displacement doesn't meet the convergence,safety factor of slope of strength reduction can be gained.
