Experimental Study of Rheological-mechanical Properties of Silty Mudstone

The conventional mechanical properties and creep behavior of silty mudstones under triaxial compression condition are investigated.Based on the conventional stress-strain curves and creep curves obtained by the experiments,the comparative analysis of short-term mechanical properties;and rheological-mechanical properties of sandstones is made and the effect of long-term load on mechanical parameters of silty mudstone is analyzed.By using the improved Nishihara's model,the triaxial creep experiment at 5 MPa confining pressure is modeled.The results show that the time-dependent effect of silty mudstones is significant.The strength,the deformation modulus,the cohesion and the friction angle of silty mudstones decrease to some extent under long-term load;and the strength is the most significantly reduced.Long-term load has greater influences on the cohesion than on the the friction angle.Moreover,it is demonstrated that the improved Nishihara's model can predict well the time-dependent behaviour of sitly mudstones.
