The Function of Citation of The Book of Songs in Diplomatic Discource in The Spring and Autumn Period

WANG Li ( China Foreign Affairs University, Beijing 100037, China)  
The Book of Songs has a strong literary flavour, but it was employed in diplomatic activities in the Spring and Autumn Period, It shows the intention of the opposite side, settles a dispute between countries, asks for immediate rescue when in distress, tries to persuade kings and so on, it made diplomatic language have a unique style in the period.
