Failure pattern analysis of a cutting high slope of a power plant in North Shaanxi and its treatment

For a cutting high slope in North Shaanxi,the soil and rock of the slope is composed of loess,silt,fine sand,medium sand,mudstone and sandstone,which are of weak anti-weathering ability.And there is a fault passing through the slope.Obvious distortion and failure occured at the top and surface of the slope after excavation.The distortion and failure still have a developing trend.Based on the failure mode analysis,teatment measures combining the lattice frame anchor structure and lattice frame steel piles with stepped excavation according to different gradient ratios were adopted.The result of 3-D modeling and displacement monitoring shows that the proposed treating measures are suited to the engineering geological condition.The treating measures can equilibrate the change of stress and strain after excavation;and it is safe and economical.
