Calculation of critical water depth and contraction section water depth in egg-shaped cross-section with six arcs of open channel

Based on the nonuniform flow theory of open channel,according to blocking the calculated area,the iteration formulas of critical water depth and contraction section water depth in egg-shaped cross section with six arcs are derived in detail;and the simplified methods of critical water depth are researched by optimizing fitting.The iteration formulas of critical water depth under four conditions and contraction section water depth under three conditions are put forwarded;the relationship between relative critical water depth and relative discharge corresponding to the known discharge and the relationship between relative critical water depth and relative area corresponding to the known critical water depth are given;two kinds of simplified formulas are obtained as well.these two simplified calculation formulas of critical water depth are verified correctly by numerical examples with the maximum errors 1.6% and 0.8% separately which can meet the needs of engineering design.
