Objective To study the effect of cadmium on the function of sexual hormones secreting of ovary in rats and investigate the effect of cadmium on female gonads toxicity. Methods Wistar female adult rats were weighted and randomly assigned to four groups based on body weight with a different dose of CdCl_2(Cd~(2+) concentration were 1.0,0.5,0.25 and 0 mg/kg,respectively)in subcutaneous for 30 days exposure(5 days/week,daily).The ovary was taken away and was used in the whole ovary culture and the changes of estadio(E_2) and progesterone(P) were determinated with radioimmuno assay.According to the design of orthogonal L_(16)(4~4),the influence of cadmium and the different stages of estrus on the contents of E2 and P of ovary were assessed in vitro.Results(1)The results in vivo, showed that in the high dose group the contents of E_2 and P 1.3836 pg/ml and 5.2857 ng/ml,respectively) decreased significantly compared to control(3.8976 pg/ml and 9.1583 ng/ml,respectively);(2) The results in vitro, showed that the influence of cadmium and the stages of estrus cycle on the contents of E_2 and P of ovary were sigificant and the interaction between them were existing. Conclusion The endocrine disturuption effect of Cd were found as a inhibitor on the function of secrecting E_2 and P of ovary in rats.
