ADVANCE IN FERMENTATION PRODUCTION OF β-CAROTENE BY Rhodotorula

Researhes of extractiori of fycarotene from Rhaotorula and the physiological conditions for fermentation of strains are surnrndrized. Its future developrnent is dri discussed. A conclusion considered that the efficiency of cell rupturing is the key of pigment extraction. Acid heating is comaratively gdri metheds; howver, mochanical rupttiring should be moresuitable me-thods for large-scale cell rupturing. The feature of Rhaotorula prodareal carotene (output and component of the preduct) not only related to the strains ued, but also cledy relaed toboentation physiobeical conditions and extraction metheds. The application of supercritied Cardri diokide for extrction and the breeding and the construction of high-yield strains will be the research direction of Rhaotorula β-carotene industrialization development in the future.
