Radix Isatis Polysaccharides to Inhibit Adhesion of Pathogenic E. coli to Cell

Effect of Radix Isatis polysaccharides (RIPS) on adhesion of pathogenic E.coli to cell was studied by adhesion test and inhibiting adhesion test on PK-15 cell.The results showed that RIPS had the best inhibition for E.coli adhesion to PK-15 cell at 1.6 mg/mL concentration among the selected four concentrations of RIPS,the number of bacteria adhesion to cells was reduced from 44.8 per cell to 6.3 per cell.Therefore,cell adhesion of E.coli can be inhibited by RIPS indicating that it may have a potential application value in regulating enteric microecology.
