Non-touch Sensors in Bearingless Magnetic Suspension Motor System

Many contactless rotor position sensors can be used in magnetic suspension motors systems. General principles,performances and different situations of the sensors are compared. Dynamic and static characteristics of an eddy-current sensor are studied systemically. Errors and the methods to eliminate them in the rotor position detection system are given. A testing application example of eddy-current sensor in a magnetic suspension motor is provided.The results show that the eddy-current sensor can be the better candidate meeting with the multi-freedom degree complex controls of the magnetic suspension system for its small size,high sensitivity,anti-noise and preferable dynamic performance.
