POWER SPECTRUM METHODS FOR ESTIMATING THE DEPTHS TO THE TOP AND THE BOTTOM OF MAGNETIC SOURCE

A new method for direct determining the depth to the lower face of three- dimensional magnetic source from the concept of derivative by use of the power spectrum of the vertical derivative of magnetic anomaly or the anomaly itself had been developed in our former work〔1〕.In this paper, the method for estimating the bottom depth of two-dimensional source is presented in the similar way. In addition, the methods for estimating the depths to the top of both two and three-dimensional sources are also doveloped. The results of testing estimation on theoretical models indecate that the accuracy of calculated depths is rather high, especially the depth to the bottom.
