THE RECOGNITION AND VISUALIZATION OF SUBTLE TRAPS

In this paper,we present a new method and visualization technology for exploring subtle traps using narrow band wavelet scanning.The narrow band wavelet is the convolution of seismic wavelet and wavelet operator.Numerical calculation shows that narrow band wavelet record and some of it's character parameters can clearly and accurately display the lateral variation of some geological body which is only λ/100 thick or less.The vertical resolution improved record of geological body which is only λ/8 thick can be reconstructed from a series of narrow band wavelet records processed specifically.Some very thin subtle traps can be recognized effectively with the help of different resolution character of narrow band wavelet record and reconstructed record.
