The conservation and restoration of the wall paintings in Jokhang Temple in Lhasa City, Tibet

In order to coordinate the repairing project of Jokhang Temple in Lhasa City,Tibet,the wall paintings in th e main hall in Jokhang Temple have been conserved in two times in 1985 and 1987.According to the characteristics of the constraction of the wall paintings and the architectures of Jokhang Temple we used the methods combining removing and restoration with chemical consolidation in situ,and so the original appearance of the wall paintings has been reinstated.This article describes the conservation and restoration of the wall paintings in Jokhang Temple in Tibet.
