The applicaticn of remote sensing technology in survey and mapping of the historical remains of Fengyang one of the copital cities in Ming Dynasty

Remote sensing is a new technology which has been developed quickly since 1960 s.Its application in archaeology greatly extends the feeling organ of human beings and provides a window to archaeologists through which they can detect ancient material world.Relics Research Institute in Chuxian Prefecture has adopted aerial photographs of different times and different ratios of making a comprehensive investigation about the historical remains of Feng Yang the Capital City in Ming Dynasty.The Principles:geometric shape of the historical remains of Feng Yang can form a certain comparing pattern in the aerial photographs;and its spectrum differen ce with surrounding material can form corresponding photograph tint.To find out the location of San Dao Cheng and garden plot,to calculate the circumference of Feng Yang and inter diameter and outer diameter of the garden plot,to set up th e symbols of relics pholograph prove the correctness of aerial photograph through earth survey and exploration later.The result of many years of working shows this method is useful in the survey of historical remains and underground relics in a certain scale.It's time saving,energy saving and expenditure saving.
