Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometric determination of Iron in Chinese traditional medicine

Objective:To determine the contents of Iron in Chinese traditional medicine.Methods:Choose 10 kinds of Chinese traditional medicine by sample digestion with wet method(HNO3、HClO4),including Herba houttuyniae,Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii,Radix Isatidis,Polygonum multiflorum,Bupleurum chinense,Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch,Ginkgo Leaves,Poria cocos,Scutellaria baicalensis Georig and Pueraria lobata,which can cure disease of the respiratory system.1,10-phanenthrolane was used as developer and to determination the contents of Iron in Chinese traditional medicine by UV-vis.Result: The result shows that the contents of Iron in Chinese traditional medicine was amplification.The contents of Iron in Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii was higher than others.The contents of Iron in Ginkgo Leaves was lower.There was difference between them(P0.05).Conclusion:The result provided the datas from Iron in Chinese traditional medicine.The method is simple,fast and accurate,to instructed the people reasonably to take Chinese traditional medicine to carry on makes up the iron and further develop the Chinese traditional medicine to provide the reliable theory basis.It proved a useful data for approaching the relation between Iron in Chinese traditional medicine and treatment of the respiratory disease and it also proved foundation for reasonable use of medicines at clinic.
