Investigation on the Relationship between Trace Element Mo and Gastric Cancer

In this investigation we surveyed the content of effective molybdenum(Mo) in the soil of 85 counties and villages in Jiangxi Province. We also analysed and detected the Mo in hair and serum of the patients with gastric cancer. The results showed a negative correlation between the effective Mo content in soil and the mortality of gastric cancer in Jiangxi Province (r=-0.285,P0 01).In additi on,the level of hair Mo in the patients was lower than that in the healthy controls (P0 01).Furthermore,the level of serum mo in the patients was lower than that in the control groups,too (P0.05).All of these results indicate that a lack of Mo maybe one of causes of the increasing incidence of gastric cancer.
