By using step through test and water maze test the effects of germanium on ICR mouse learning and memory disturbance caused by lead were studied by administering i.p. carboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide i.p.(Ge-132,25 mg/kg)and/or lead acetate(PbAc2,15 mg/kg)for 28 days, one time every two days. The results showed that after exposure to 20 days the learning and memory disturbance caused by the injection of PbAc2 was antagonized by Ge-132 significantly(P0.01).This suggested that Ge-132 might play a protective role in neurobehavioral function damage induced by lead.
