OBJECTIVE:In order to observe the effects of carboxyethl-germanium sesquioxide (CGS) on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion.METHODS:the expermental model was established by ligaturing coronary artery for 30 minutes followed by reperfusing for 60 minutesin the rats. The artery blood pressure, rate of reperfusion arrhythmias, arrhythmias severity index (ASI),level of malonaldehyde (MDA),activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and ATPase in myocardium, and level of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) in serum were measured.RESULTS:CGS(50 mg/kg,iv)significantly decreased reperfusion arrhythmias and ASI,inhibited fail of myocardial function, decreased level of MDA and improved activity of SOD in myocardium, and decreased LDH level in serum after reperfusion.CONCLUSION:CGS might have a protective effect on the damage of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion in rats.
