Controlling criterion of differential settlements after widening expressway

In order to prevent the longitudinal crack and stability failure caused by differential settlements after widening roads,based on the project of widening expressway from Anyang to Xinxiang in Henan,this paper studies the differential settlements from those aspects such as mechanical influence,the request of evenness and traveling load.The result shows that the mechanical influence of pavement structure on differential settlements should be the controlling criterion,and 4 cm and 9 cm are the low limit and high limit of it.1 tab,5 figs,9 refs.
