An Analysis on the Marriage Strategy of Unmarried Rural Males in China

LIU Li-ge1,JIN Xiao-yi2 (1.School of Management,Xi′an Jiaotong University,Xi′an 710049,China; 2.Institute for Population and Development Studies,School of Public Policy and Administration,Xi′an Jiaotong University,Xi′an 710049,China)
Using the 2011 data of "One Hundred Villages Individual Survey",we analyze the attitude of unmarried rural males to marry previously married females. There is a significant difference of their attitude towards the previously married females in the diverse fertility status in their previous marriage. To marry previously married females is becoming an addressing marriage strategy for bachelors who have a poorer economic condition and are in the inferior position in the first marriage market. But this does not imply that there is change in the attitude of the entire male community to marry previously married females.
