Sound Absorption Model of Sintered Fibrous Metal

According to the characters of porous metals,a new effective bulk modulus formula with simpler expression was obtained by considering the heat exchange between the metallic skeleton and air in pore on the basis of phenomenological Biot-Allard model,therefore an extended sound absorption model was put forward.The sound absorption characteristics of one-layer fibrous metal sheets,two-layer-assembled,and three-layer-assembled fibrous metal sheets were theoretically evaluated via the extended model.The corresponding acoustic measurements were performed and compared with the numerical results.It is found that the sound absorption in fibrous metal is somewhat enhanced due to the effect of metallic skeleton,and the sound absorption induced by the fiber vibrating of small amplitude is weakened due to the sintering process.Compared with the results from Biot-Allard model,the results from the extended model coincide better with the measurement,especially for the surface acoustic impedances at higher frequencies.
