Anew transmission system planning model employing genetic algorithm as optimalmeans has been presented in this paper,Genetic algorithms are search procedures based onthe mechanics of natural selection,survival of the fittest and natureal genetics,To improvethe convergence several improvements are also developed. The numerical examples presenteddemonstrate that the new model is very efficient and reliable,It can not only avoid the localoptimization problem but also avoid the dimension disaster problem,The proposed modelcreates a new field for the transmission system planning;
