Interaction of local buckling and effective width of the compression flange in lipped channels under bending (Ⅰ)

Finite element method is applied to analyse the interaction of local buckling in lipped channelsunder bending. Due to the strongly restraint provided by the web, the buckling coefficient of compressionflanges can be attained more than 3. 8 for general lipped channels, so the buckling coefficient 1. 35 adoptedby the current specification GBJ18-87 is not reasonable for bending members.
