Accumulation conditions of the Carboniferous shale gas in Bayanhaote Basin and its southern periphery

The accumulation conditions of Carboniferous shale gas in the studied areas,such as sedimentary environment,thickness distribution of the shale,and type,composition,maturity and gas saturation of kerogen,are studied based on the analysis of actual measurement,sampling,geochemical parameters and physical parameters of the outcrops from 6 places in Bayanhaote Basin. The results show that the target shale is characterized by extensive distribution,great thickness,rich organic matter,ideal kerogen type and moderate maturity. All these indicated that the target shale has good shale-gas source conditions. Besides,there are pores and fractures in the target shale,and the shale gas is of good gas adsorption ability according to the isothermal adsorption tests. Based on the analysis of shale thickness,buried depth,TOC,maturity etc.,it is held that there are 2 shale gas accumulation potential areas: one is the zone from Bacan 2 well to Bacan 3 well,the other is the zone from Hongshuibao,Yingpanshui to Daliushu.
