Characteristics and Recognition of Lower Jurassic Shell Limestone in Yuanba Area of Sichuan Basin

The reservoir characteristics,sedimentary facies,seismic-logging response characteristics and recognization method of the lower Jurassic pure shell limestone and muddy shell limestone in the first submember of Da'anzhai Member of Zhiliujing Formation of Yuanba area were studied based on the observation of cores and thin sections,the analysis of well drilling data,the seismic-logging identification,and multivariate statistics method. The results show that the pure shell limestone is characterized as pure lithology,big thickness,broken shell and high degree of recrystallization. It is formed in beach center and slope,its reservoir space is mainly tectonic fractures,and its physical property is poor. Its seismic responses show as continuous and strong wave crest on the top interface and high inside wave impedance,and its logging responses show as low gamma,high electric resistivity,low acoustic time difference and high density. The muddy shell limestone is characterized as high mud content,small thickness and intact shell,it is formed in beach margin and beach slope,its reservoir space is mainly intracrystalline and intercrystalline dissolved micropores,and then is the microcracks in the shells. Its physical properter is better than that of the pure shell limestone. Its seismic responses show as relatively continuous and weekmedium wave crest on the top interface and medium-relatively high inside wave impedance,and its logging responses show as medium gamma,medium-low electric resistivity,medium acoustic time difference and medium-low density. Based on their electrical difference,two types of shell limestone can be distinguished effectively by using Fisher discrimination method.
