Wind Tunnel Test on 3-D Steady Wind Flow Field of Tower Mast Structure and Numerical Simulation

The behavior of wind pressure distribution on the crosssea engineering of Hangzhou Bay tower mast structure under different angles was investigated through wind tunnel test.The variation situations of wind pressure on tower mast structure were measured and studied under different directions wind loads.The steady wind flow field of a 3-D tower mast structure immersed into atmosphere boundary was numerically simulated using FLUENT 6.Two turbulence models,standard k-ε model and Realizable k-ε model,were used in the numerical simulation.The detailed comparison between numerical simulation results and wind tunnel test results was carried out.The results show that both standard k-ε model and Realizable k-ε model in FLUENT 6 can give the accurate enough results from the view of engineering application.But the simulation precisions of these two models exist some differences between the buildings.Therefore,it is vital to determine wind load precisely for engineering design of such important structures through comparing analysis.
