We collected 360 adults of Dastarcus longulus from Wugong,Shaanxi province in March of 2000.Every 5 adults as a group are put in the artificial tunnels made of poplar wood. They are reared in the laboratory and observe and record their biological features. The results showed that the adult life of Dastarcus longulus is over three years. In laboratory, the adult breeds no more than 6 generations and 21 couples of sister generations in three years. The adults hibernate in artificial tunnels after mid October. In the early March of the next year, adults begin to be active.Hibernant adults lay eggs twice in a year, egg period is 12.7 days, larva period is 8.4 days, the pupa period is 25.6 days.Only some of the first sister generation adults begin to lay eggs in the early August and end in mid September. The second generation adults emerge in late September. The second sister generation adults dont lay eggs in this year.
