Genotypic diversity in Phytophthora infestans from Inner Mongolia

Forty isolates of Phytophthora infestans collected from Inner Mongolia from 1997 to 1999 and from 2002 to 2003 were analyzed by using mitochondrial DNA halotype and AFLP genotype. All the P. infestans isolates presented mitochondrial DNA haplotypeⅡa. The results showed that genotypes with theⅡa halotype were probably predominant in Inner Mongolia and populations from Inner Mongolia belonged to new populations. 17 AFLP genotypes were distinguished among the isolates,in which every second isolate represented an unique genotype. Besides, 17 AFLP genotypes were distributed over three clusters. Clustering of AFLP genotypes was not associated with geographical origin or collection year of isolates.
