PAN Xun,LI Gui-fang(1.School of History and Culture,Sichuan University,Chengdu 610064,China;2.School of History and Culture,Southwest University,Chongqing 400715,China)
After the Anti-Japanese war broke out,the center of Chinese science and culture rapidly moved to the large rear areas of west China. The scientific and technological societies mainly headquartered in east China moved to the rear areas one after another. With the development of science and technology in the rear areas,a large number of new societies were established in succession. After a short period of science, the scientific and technological societies gradually became active towards the middle of the Anti-Japanese War.By holding annual seminars jointly or independently, publishing science magazines, giving science lectures, carrying out field work, etc, the scientific and technological workers, under the association of the scientific and technological societies, overcame various difficulties, promoted scientific and technological communication, scientific research, and science popularization. They tried their best to serve the Anti-Japanese War and the construction in the rear areas scientifically. They had significant influences on the development of science and economy, and on the communication among scientific and technological workers.
