This paper is mainly presented for studying on the origin and evol-ution of rapeseeds, with sprecial reference to the historic investigation ofthe origin of Chinese Brassica cam pestris and B.juncea, and also about theintroduction of B.napus abroad. As mountain-form Pak-Choi and wild-typeblack mustard(B.nigra Koch)had been discovered recently in central andnorthwest China,it might be concluded that China is one of the originalcentres for B.cam pestris var oleifera Metzger and B.juncea Czern.et Coss..The ancient form of B.cam pestris var.oleifera metzgermight be originatedfrom central or northwest China and B.cam pestris var.chinensis(L.)Met-zger from south China especially from the Yangtse Valley, while the an-cient form of B.juncea Czern.et Coss.might be originated from north-west China as the wild-type black mustard was discovered from variousplaces and justified by the Chinese research workers.
