A comparative study was conducted with four different senescenttypes of wheat variety in 1981~1985.The normal senescent type,BeijingNo.17,showed that concentration of proteinous nitrogen,total contentand a/b ratio of chlorophyll in flag and second leaf retained long andsteadily,content of non-proteinous nitrogen was lower,ratio of protienous/non-proteinous nitrogen and nitrogen mobilization from canopyduring senescence were higher than those of any early senescent types.Jing-ai No.20 is a genotype of the green-drying senescent type.Thepatterns of its chlorophyll and non-proteinous nitrogen variation weresimilar with Beijing No.17,but the ratio of proteinous/non-proteinousnitrogen and nitrogen mobilization were the least among the four types.Nong-da No.139 is a typical genotype of leaf early senescent type.Although leaf senescence of 6303×Bezostaya 1 onset later than that ofNong-da No.139,the rate of senescence was rather faster.The patternof chlorophyll and non-proteinous nitrogen variation and the nitrogenmobilization of 6303×Bezostaya 1 were similar with Nong-da No.139.The 1000 kernel weight of Nong-da No.139(36.7g)is lower than thatof Beijing No.17(41.9g),but higher than those of the 6303×Bezos-taya 1 and Jing-ai No.20(28.9g and 29.4g,respectively).In short,there are substantial differences between normal and early senescenttypes,The appearences of different senescent types reflect the differences of genotypes.Final,the following questions were discussed:(1)relationship between the LAD and nitrogen mobilization from leaves,(2)how the course of kernel formation-—filling and maturing—senescing of leaf couple with each other,(3)the significance of the periodof senescence induction and its relation with occurence of senescence.
