Study on Relationship between Green Wilt and Metabolism of Active Oxygen of Wheat Plants during the Late Filling Peroid

Wheat plants usually wilt suddenly when "V type temperature conditions occurred during the late filling peroid. The phenomenon which causes obvious decrease in 1000-kernel weight is closely correlated with the decrease of the ability of scavenging active oxygen. "V" type tempera-ture during the late filling peroid results in the rapid decrease of the contents of reductive glu-tathione and ascorbic acid and activity of catalase, the cumulative increase of the content of mal-ondialdehyde and permeability of cell membrane (electrolyte leakage percent) of the flag leaf. It is inferred that the green wilt of wheat plants may be the consequence of rapid membrane deteriora-tion due to disorder in the metabolism of active oxygen and the exacerbation of lipid peroxidation under the "V" type temperature conditions during the late filling peroid.
