AFLP Mapping for the Gene Conferring Sethoxydim Resistance in Foxtail Millet (Setaria italica( L.)Beauv.)

Heibicide resistance to sethoxydim in foxtail millet ( Setaria italica (L.) Beauv.)was controlled by a nuclear, dominant gene ( Srf ). Bulked segregant analysis from F 2 was used to identify AFLP markers linked to the Srf gene of foxtail millet. DNA bands amplified from 330 random AFLP primers were screened. The polymorphic bands AP1 284 and AP2 350 were found linked to the Srf locus on the same side with the genetic distance of 6.3 cM and 2.9 cM, respectively, with 3.4 cM between the two markers. The AFLP markers would facilitate selection on the herbicide resistant lines in foxtail millet.
