A STUDY ON THE GENESIS OF SHAXI -HONGWENVALLEY IN NORTHWEST YUNNAN——AN ONCE MORE DISCUSSION ON THE CAPTUREPROBLEM OF THE JINSHA RIVER

He Haosheng He Kezhao Jiang Fuchu Zhu Zhaoyu Zhu Xiangmin(China University of geosciences, Beijing)
: many scholars thought that the Shaxi-Hongwen valley on the bank of Jinsha river in the northwest of Yunnan province might have been the ancient valley before the Jinsha river was captured. This article shows that the Shaxi-Hongwen valley is controlled completely by faults. The valley, which was developed from south to north along Jianchuan faults since Pliocene Epoch, is a typical fault-subsidence valley and it was formed completely until the early Holocene Epoch, Its formation had nothing to do with neither Jinsha river nor Jinsha river capture.
