Influences of Potassium on acidity and isobutane dehydrogenation performance of Pt-Sn/Al_2O_3 catalyst

The effects of potassium content on the acidity and isobutane dehydrogenation properties of Pt-Sn/Al2O3 catalyst were studied by N2 adsorption and desorption techniques,scanning electronic microscope(SEM),pyridine-IR and isobutane dehydrogenation.The results show that the acid quantity was reduced due to potassium adding,especially the number of acid sites with strong acidity.The acid quantity decreases and the isobutane dehyrogenation selectivity increased obviously with the increase of potassium.It was also found that the dehydrogenation activity decreased rapidly when the potassium content exceeded 0.8 w%.The results of isobutane dehydrogenation indicate that the potassium amount should be in the range of 0.4%-0.8%.
