YUAN Hong feng,LIU Shao zhang,HE Xiang ge.Daping Hospital,Third Military Medical University,Chongqing 400042,China
Objective To study apoptosis of retina ganglion cells(RGCs) following the optic nerve injury.Method Intraorbital optic nerve axotomy or crush model of rat was used to observe the apoptosis of RGCs through TUNELs' method and electron microscope on day 1,3,7,14 after the optic nerve injury. Results On days 7 and 14 of axotomy and days 14 of crush, apoptosic cells were showed in GCL by Tunel method, and were characterized by typical morphologic changes under electron microscope. Conclusions RGCs show apoptosis after the optic nerve injury, suggesting apoptosis may play a improtant role in the delay death of RGCs after the optic nerve injury.
