Aim To study the correlation of ErbB2exp ression with sur-vival in osteosarcoma. Methods Expression of ErbB2in the tumors of 69patients with osteosarcoma was evaluated by immunohistochemical studi es.In addition, possible correlation o f ErbB2expression with patient ' s clinical manifestations and histopathological characteristics were analyzed. Results Of the 69tumors examined,34(49.3%)demonstrated high levels of ErbB2expression.The positive expressio n rates of ErbB2in patients with larg e tu-mor or belonged to Stage III increase d obviously in comparison with those cases of small tumor or belonged to St age II.Expression of ErbB2was cor-related with early pulmonary metastases.Survival of the patients with a p-parent ErbB2expression was significantly worse than that of the patient s with little ErbB2expression.Conclusion ErbB2plays a significant role in ag-gressive tumor growth and in the prom otion of metastatic potential in os-teosarcoma.ErbB2in the osteosarcoma tissues would be a useful prognostic marker for patients.
