Scattering Center Extraction from Stepping Frequency Signal for Target Recognition

One-dimension scattering center extraction is developed basing on the geometric theory of diffraction. The number and position of scattering centers are estimated from stepping frequency signal using MUSIC algorithm. The scattering centers are utilized as feature vectors for the radar target recognition, which correspond to the geometrical structure of target. The target recognition experiment is conducted using the measurement data of four compact targets. The results show that the scattering centers are robust and effective for target recognition.
