Carrier Feed-through Nulling in Millimeter Wave Continuous Wave Radar——Theoretical Analysis and System Simulation

In this paper, the problem of carrier feed-through in continuous wave system, which limits the detection range of the radar system, is analysed in detail. The active method of feed-through nulling in continuous wave radar systems is investigated theoretically. The nulling system is simulated with regard to the characteristics of the feed-through signals of millimeter wave wideband FMCW radar. The simulation and the theoretical analysis both demonstrate that a well designed nulling system is capable to cut down the feed-through power by 30~60dB. All these provide theoretical basis for further experimental studies.
