Method of stability analysis of surrounding rocks of underground works:problems and considerations

Gan Kunrong (Scientific and Technical Research Institute of China Railway Tunneling Group, Luoyang 471009)  
By reviewing the history of the stability analysis of the surrounding rocks of underground works and analyzing the problems in construction practice, the author suggests, instead of tedious and accurate calculations, an objective and all-round approach should be taken in the analysis for the stability of surrounding rocks of underground works and new research concepts and methods should be recommended.
