China English:Interference variety In Cross-culture Communication

Xie Zhijun
This paper takes a critical look at Li Wenzhong' s definition of China English. Li defines it as a variety that expresses the social and cultural matters specific in China and is free from Chinese interference (see Foreign Language Teaching and Research, No. 4, 1993) The author of this paper argues that the study of CE should take Chinese interference into account, which definately exists in every aspect of CE : lexical, syntactical and textual when it is used by Chinese people to express both Chinese and foreign matters.
