RESEARCH ON DYSOSMIA IN PATIENTS WITH PARKINSON'S DISEASE

[Objective]To detect the olfactory function in patients with Parkinson's disease(PD)and explore the clinical significance.[Methods]Olfaction was examined in 105 PD patients and in 105 healthy controls well matched for sex,age and education,statistics analysis was employed according to sex,age,duration,and Hoehn-Yahr degree.[Results]The incidence of dysosmia in PD patients(95.5%)was significantly higher than that in the healthy controls(48.6%)(P = 0.000).12% of PD patients had dysosmia before motor symptoms appeared.[Conclusions]The olfactory function decreases significantly in PD patients and probably appears in the early stage.
