Determination of Fatty Acids by Microwave-Assisted Derivatization and GC-MS——An Adulteration Detection Method on Edible Oils with Calibration Transformation Matrix

An adulteration detection method on edible oils by microwave assisted derivatization and GC MS to determinate fatty acids coupled with calibration transformation matrix was developed. The optimum conditions for microwave assisted derivatization were studied in details. The calibration model was verified on 40 samples containing known content of peanut oil, palm oil, rape oil, gingeli oil and cotton oil. The average deviations of all samples were less than 5%. Eight real samples on the market were detected by this method. Three of them were identified to be adulterated. The results were satisfied. The method is rapid, accurate and solvent saving.
