Determination of Trace Lead in Alcohol by Sequential Injection Hydride Generation-Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometry

A method for the determination of trace lead existed in alcoholic beverage using sequential injection hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry was proposed.The detection system could be cleaned better by added 2.5%(V/ V) absolute alcohol into the HCl carrier,and the stability of detection was improved.The operation conditions including the concentrations of HCl and KBH4 were studied.There was a good linear relationship between the fluorescence intensity and lead concentration in the range of 5.0□80μg/L with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992,The detection limit was 0.24μg/ L and the relative standard deviation(n=11)was 1.8%.The recovery was in the range of 96%□103%.It is applied to the determination of trace lead in distilled spirits,wine and beer with satisfactory results.
