Effect of PCF on neuropeptide Y in blood and hypothalamus and decreased food appetite in post-chemotherapy rats

Objective To study the influence of scallops peptide(PCF) on anorexia rats appetite stimulating factor neuropeptide Y(NPY) after chemotherapy.Methods 36 rats were randomly divided into three groups,namely the blank group,the model group and PCF group.PCF group was treated with PCF after chemotherapy anorexia model rats.The appetite,weight,and plasma and hypothalamus were observed.Results The appetite and weight of blank group were significantly different from that of model group(P 0.0041 and 0.0079).The appetite and weight of PCF group were significantly different from that of model group(P= 0.0056 and 0.0062).The hypothalamus and blood NPY of PCF group was different from that of blank group and model group.Body weight was correlated with hypothalamus NPY(P=0.0026) and plasma NPY(P=0.0037).Conclusion PCF can significantly increase rat appetite and weight after chemotherapy,whose mechanism and PCF may involve increase of peripheral blood and central neuropeptide Y.
