Ego-identity and the relationship between ego-identity and mental health among 711 countryside juniors

Objective To explore the development of countryside junior' s ego identity status and its relationship with the mental health,and to provide reference for the mental health education for countryside juniors.Methods By using Mental Health Inventory of Middle-school Students and The Scale of Identity Status to survey rural junior middle school students of Sichuan.Results the countryside junior ego-identity had gender differences among grades,59.7% of grade seven students in identity diffusions-moratorium status(D-M status) was significantly higher than grade eight and grade nine;12.2% of grade eight students in identity foreclosure staus(F status),15.5% of people in a positive moratorium status(M status) was significantly higher than the grade seven students and grade ninth students,23.2 % of people in identity achievement-identity foreclosure(A-F status) was significantly higher than grade seven students and grade eight students,but the difference was not significant between sexes;there was significant relationship between the mental health level and Ego-identity' s three dimensions.Conclusion The ego involvement ideation is an important content of countryside junior' s mental health education.
