Relationship between college students' humanistic quality and subjective well-being based on the concept of positive psychology

Objective To investigate humanistic quality level of college students and explore the relationship between humanistic quality and Subjective Well-Being(SWB),in order to introduce the concept of positive psychology to the Humanistic Education.Methods College Students' Humanistic Quality Questionnaire and Index of Well-Being Questionnaire were used to investigate 1 015 college students.SPSS 19.0 statistical software was utilized for data analysis.Results College students' humanistic quality average score was 78.64 ± 6.95,well-being index average score was 10.41 ± 2.24,which was in upper-middle level compared with normal population.About the humanistic quality score,girls' scores were higher than boys' scores(t =-2.937,P 0.05),and minority students' scores were higher than Han students' scores(t =-10.851,P 0.01),humanistic quality scores of medical students were significantly lower than students from other disciplines(F = 18.520,P 0.01).There was no significant difference in subjective well-being in gender.Minority students had better subjective well-being than Han students(t = 10.851,P 0.01).College students' humanistic quality was positively associated with their subjective well-being(r = 0.331,P 0.01).Conclusion College students with high humanistic quality level may have a higher SWB,while improving SWB may also contribute to the enhancement of humanistic quality level.
